Revlon Creme Brulee (#95) Colorburst Lip Butter Review, Photos, Swatches

Revlon Creme Brulee (#95) Colorburst Lip Butter

A Creamy Nude for Your Pretty Pout!

If you are looking for a glossy, sheer, nude lipstick, then you may want to check out Revlon Creme Brulee (#95) Colorburst Lip Butter (≈ $7.49 USD for 0.09 oz./2.5 g.).  It is a light, warm beige with micro multi-colored shimmer and glossy finish.  The shimmer is pretty undetectable to the naked eye (I can only spot it using a loupe), but it helps add to the shiny-ness of the color.  The color comes off a little more peachy on the lip swatch than it is in person.  Lip Butters are described as a “buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy, glowing lips.”

The texture of Lip Butters reminds me of MAC’s Sheen Supreme Lipstick formula and these have the added bonus of being hydrating.  I swiped on Creme Brulee when my lips were somewhat dry and instantly felt my lips become soft and smooth.  Without eating or drinking, this shade wore for about 2.5 hours.  The color and glossiness faded about 50% after an hour and a half) and the balmy feel lingered for an additional hour. Because this is not long-wearing (and is not advertised as so) you will need to reapply after eating/drinking.  I do not find that Lip Butters help with hydrating your lips long-term-once the product is gone, so is the hydration-but they don’t dehydrate your lips anymore than they were before applying the product.

The pigmentation of Creme Brulee is sheer with one swipe, but can be layered to slightly build its intensity-Revlon describes the opacity of Lip Butters to be “sheer to medium.”  Earlier this week, I paired this with a smoky eye and it was the perfect nude color for my lips.  I could see some of my natural lip color peeking through, so my lips did not look lifeless.

I really like the packaging of these.  The fact that the caps resemble the color of the lipstick, and there is a little window at the top, means you know exactly which color you are grabbing.  My only concern is the plastic of the caps can be prone to cracking, or deep scratches, if you are very careless with them.

I seem to detect a minimal synthetic, sweet scent (no taste), but it could just be my mind longing to smell something sweet due to the yummy names of Lip Butters!

Overall, I like Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter formula (I’ll be reviewing more of these in the near future).  I do not really mind having to reapply lipstick throughout the day, and if you don’t either, I recommend checking them out.  They come in 20 different shades, so there is something for everyone.

BEAUTIFUL ON A BUDGET TIP: Be sure to check your Sunday paper for coupons and store ads to receive a better deal than the MSRP.  When it comes to drugstore brands, there is never a reason to pay full price!  ;)
